Abstract
Subtitled English-language movies are a learning tool to improve English listening comprehension skills. This study aims to determine the impact of English movie subtitles on students' listening comprehension. The research method used is a quantitative method. The research instrument is a pre-experimental design, which contains pre-test and post-test with a sample of 20 students. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in students' listening comprehension. The study's findings demonstrated a significant improvement in students' listening comprehension after using subtitled English movies as a learning tool. The pre-test average score was 57.55, which increased to 86.90 in the post-test, reflecting an overall improvement of 51%. The majority of students moved from the "Fair" category in the pre-test to "Good" and "Excellent" categories in the post-test. This result indicates that subtitles effectively bridge comprehension gaps caused by unfamiliar accents, speaking speeds, or limited vocabulary.
