Abstract
This study aims to analyze the communication strategies used by teachers in teaching English at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Kupang. The background of this research focuses on the challenges posed by the dominance of one-way communication strategies, particularly in tenth grade. In this approach, teachers play an active role while students tend to be passive, which often causes teaching and learning activities to not achieve the desired expectations. To overcome this, teachers need to be innovative and flexible in choosing learning strategies that can increase student participation and interest. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, with the aim of identifying the types of communication strategies applied by teachers in the teaching process. The results show that effective two-way communication between teachers and students is an important foundation in creating a dynamic and immersive learning experience. By creating an environment that encourages interaction, provides constructive feedback and involves students in decision-making, teachers can increase student motivation, engagement and understanding. While the challenges of implementing this strategy cannot be ignored, the right two-way communication strategy can be a powerful tool for achieving educational success. The conclusion of this study confirms the importance of two-way communication in creating a more interactive and meaningful learning atmosphere. A learning environment that encourages active interaction not only makes students feel more engaged, but also spurs them to think critically, ask questions and provide valuable feedback. When students play an active role, their motivation to learn increases and their understanding of the material becomes deeper.
