Abstract

The title is “the use of procedure text pictures series in improving students’ writing ability at smp negeri 7 kolhua “, the reseach problem, is the use of procedure text picture series able to improve students’ writing ability? Methodology used in this research is quantitative research method. The design of this research is a pre-experimental design of a one-group pre-test, post-test design. In this study, The design of this research is as follows. The sample is part of the number and characteristics possessed by the population. In this study, the sample consisted of only one class in the population of class VIII.B, based on the results of preliminary observations there are low learning outcomes, especially in English subjects in class VIII.B SMP Negeri 7 Kolhua Kupang, with totaling 18 students’, 8 Males and 10 Females. To collect data, the researcher conducted tests. The researcher gave a test of writing Procedure text in 2 phases, namely pre-test and post-test. The test score consisted of four aspects. That aspects; measuring are the Content, Structure, Rules Writing, and, Characteristics writing. Whereas in the observation section, the researcher observed the continuity of learning activities to seek benefits from the method applied, based on the score in the pre-test, Based on the score in above the table shows, 6 students got very poor score, students got 8 good score, students got 3 fair score and 1 excellent score. Based on the score in above the table shows, 1 student got very poor score, 1 student got good score, 16 students got excellent score. Based on the analysis of research data, the researcher concludes that procedure text pictures series can develop students’ writing ability in class VIII.B SMP Negeri 7 Kolhua. This can be seen from the main score of students on the pre-test was 9,44 and on the post-test 13,9 as well as an increase in students’ writing ability by 20%. So, it was concluded that the procedure text pictures series method can develop students’ writing ability in the learning process.
