Abstract

The objective of study was to find the intrinsic elements in novel Rainbow Troops. The method that was used in this study was a qualitative method, which focused intrinsic elements. The results of analyzing the intrinsic elements ware described as follows: a) Characters consists of three types protagonist (eight characters),antagonist (two characters) and tritagonist (one characters). b)Setting consists of three types setting place (seven setting place),setting of time (three setting of time ),setting of society (four setting of society). c) theme consist of two that is :( education, and poorness).d) Plot use forward flow consist of four types exposition, rising action, falling action, denouement) e) subject matter subject matter in the novel the ten children who got the nickname the rainbow troops. The Rainbow Troops tells about the lives of 10 children from poor families who attend a Muhammadiyah school in Belitung which is full of limitations in getting an Education. So, the writer can conclude that this novel has 5 the intrinsic elements That can be seen in the novel the Rainbow Troops by Andrea Hirata.
