Abstract

The research aim was to find out the students’ improvement on vocabulary through storytelling. The research applied the quantitative research, using pre-experimental design in this study. There were 29 students at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Kupang which in class C, 29 students were participated in this research. The data collection was obtained by using tests, pre- tests and post-tests. While technique of data collection was found by calculating the mean score in both pre-test and post-test. The result of this study showed that there was a significance difference between pre-test and post-test as the mean score of pre-test was 39,51 and in post-test was 78,89. Based on that students’ vocabulary mastery improved 39,38 points. While, in paired sample test,there was a significance result between the pre-test and post-test based on the significance value was 0.000<0.05. The hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. There was an improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery. The research questions have answered.
