Abstract

The study used to answer questions does the application problem based learning improve students' writing skills? The thesis focuses on the implementation of problem based learning. Data retrieved from the interview. The participant was Dr. Phil. Festif R. Hoinbala, S,Pd MA. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of problem based learning to improve the students' writing skill. Researchers found five steps teachers used namely, problem based learning-explaining, organizing, mentoring, developing and presenting, evaluation. Problem based learning can be a solution for students to improve their writing skill as it is easier because presents the situation to develop ideas. Hopefully, this study will be a reference to an English teacher to teach the text of discussion and to subsequent researchers to do further research.
