Abstract
The problems are what are the kinds of figurative language used in Rudyard Kipling poems and what is the dominant kind found in Rudyard Kipling’s poems. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative method and quantitative method while data was taken from google. In analyzing the data, the writer used the theory about figurative language stated by Perrine in Sihite (2016). The writer analyzed three poems by Rudyard Kipling. From the data analysis, there are eight kinds of figurative language used in Rudyard Kipling’s poems; repetition 35,1%, metaphor 16,6%, personification 18,5%, synecdoche 3,7%, hyperbole 5,8%, metonymy 14,8%, understatement 1,8% and apostrophe 3,7% with the most dominant type is repetition. After making the analysis on the figurative language in Rudyard Kipling’s poems, the writer expects this research could give some information or knowledge about figurative language used in Rudyard Kipling poems.
