Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using word wall media to increase students' vocabulary. The research method used is quantitative research. The research design uses a pre-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test design in one group. This research sample consisted of one class at UPTD SMP Negeri Satap Bo'a, specifically Seventh-grade (VII) which consisted of a total of 27 students. To collect data, researchers gave tests which were carried out in two stages, namely pre-test and post-test. Based on analysis of research data, researchers concluded that the application of word wall media could increase students' vocabulary in class 7 UPTD SMP Negeri Satap Bo'a. This is shown by significant results between the pre-test and post-test based on the results, with the students' post-test average score (79.6) being greater than the pre-test score (47.7). Even for the significance level (p) 0.05 and df -26, and the t-table value is 1,70), while the t-test value is (14.95). This means that the t-test is greater than the t-table (14.95 ≥ 1,70). Thus, it can be concluded that this method increases students' vocabulary mastery in the learning process. So the hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted.
