Abstract

This research discussed the semiotic meanings Found In Traditional Lego-Legodance of Alor Regency Practiced By Ternate Umapura Villagers.This research useded descriptive qualitative method. The Instrument used by the writer was interviewed, observation bythe study and clasified. The writerrecordied during the interview, writer documented all the process and later, transcribe the utterance of informant about the meaning of Lego-Lego dance in Ternate Umapura village of Alor Regency in Northwest Alor. In analyzing the data, the writer applied qualitative analysis.Based on the data analysis, it was found outthereare 15 symbols and the meanings, such asPaha limang golu‘ Hand holding’Iabajong ‘Movement oflegs’Atang amalo ‘Handstace’Elilola ‘Fast movement’Dakaserang‘Slow motion’jolsonbole‘Flat movement’ ‘Lelang’‘Mezbah’Gongbarua‘Gong’Serangbavatou‘Bava’ ‘hug’ ‘ciecle’kafate‘Alor wovenfabric’ ‘sinjiboli’ ‘Holding the litle finger’Tenafuung‘The end of the dance cricle’and the lastliang pukong‘Line leader’.The writer hope that these are important for Umapura young generation to know about this culture that the writer hoped that young people of Umapura community the of Alor Regency in Northwest Alor and conserve thistraditional dancing as the one of popular culture to domectics or foreigns. as the suggestion the writer hopes that this researchis useful for everyone, especially English students who want to do research on semiotic meaning.
