Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of the Duolingo application in improving the pronunciation skills of grade XI students at SMA Negeri 12 Kupang. A quantitative pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used involving 30 students. Data were collected through pronunciation tests administer ed before and after the treatment. The results showed that the mean score increased from 43.00 in the pretest to 72.17 in the posttest. A paired-sample t-test showed that the obtained t-value (10.03) exceeded the critical t-table value (2.045) at a significance level of 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected, indicating that Duolingo significantly improved students' pronunciation skills. The study concluded that Duolingo is an effective tool for improving English pronuncia tion through repeated practice, immediate feedback, and self-directed learning.
