Abstract
This research is entitled An Analysis of Deixis in The Movie “Kartini: Putri Dari Jawa”. There are two aims of study: 1) To identify and classify the types of deixis in the movie “Kartini: Putri Dari Jawa”, 2) To describe the dominant types of deixis are used in the movie “Kartini: Putri Dari Jawa”. The researcher used a documentary techniques to find the data from the movie script, the researcher also applied a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the movie and the dominant deixis in the movie. The result of the research found 996 deixis and there were 5 types of deixis namely person deixis such as First Person (saya ‘I, me’, saya punya ‘my’, saya sendiri ‘myself’, kami ‘we, and us’), second Person (kamu ‘you’ and milikmu ‘your’), third Person (dia ‘he, she, him, her’, mereka ‘they’, and miliknya ‘it’). Time deixis such as hari ini ‘today, sekarang ‘now’, tomorrow ‘besok’, and tiga hari ‘three days’. Place deixis such as Semarang, kamar ‘bedroom’, Bukit Sari, disini ‘here’ and disana ‘there’. Discourse deixis such as itu ‘that and ini ‘this’. Social deixis such as Kanjeng Bupati, Romo, Raden Ajeng, Tuan, Nyonya and Tuan Puteri. The dominant types of deixis in the movie “Kartini: Putri dari Jawa” is person deixis and social deixis. The number of person deixis 619, 161 social deixis, 87 discourse deixis, 81 time deixis, and 49 place deixis.
