Abstract

The title of this writing is “Semiotics Analysis Of Bath Soap Advertisements Found On Television”. Semiotics is the study of sign and symbol. This study discovered the symbol of bath soap advertisements in which symbol is a relationship between the sign and its conceptual object entirely arbitrary. The research problem of this study was What are the symbols and short messages that found in soap advertisements? And What are the meanings of the symbols and short messages that found in soap advertisements?. The aims of this study were to find out the symbols and short messages that found in soap advertisements and To find out the meanings of the symbols and short messages that found in advertisement. This research uses qualitative method. After analyzed the data, the writer found symbols and short messages in soap advertisements namely Dettol, Shinzui, Citra, Dove, Lifeboy, Claudia, Nuvo, Asepso, Lux and Giv. For example, the symbols and short messages that found in soap advertisements especially in the soap Dettol; In this soap, it can be seen that there are two symbols can be seen in the soap namely cross line and sword. Short messages can be found in the soap advertisement namely ‘perlindungan terpercaya’ ‘true protection’, ‘perlindungan setiap hari dari berbagai jenis kuman yang tak terlihat’ (Protection very day from various kinds of germs which do not visible). The writer hopes this research wills add more knowledge about the semiotics in advertisement.
