Abstract
This research presents An analysis on figurative speech in seputar warisan adat of Sikka regency . The aim of research are to describe the type of figurative speech in Seputar Warisan Adat of Sikka regency.The method research used descriptive qualitative method. This is a documentation researchfound out seven types of figurative language namely : 1) Simile like ata meng belarganuroho ,ganutole or another one’s daughterfeelslike delicious as roho and tole fruits. It means It is good to take the girl than the wife of someone because the girl is still single and virgin.2) Metaphor such as wai lemaganuri’i, la’i tubukganurotanla’Itubukganurotan,ianaterietinbenu,Amangkobekrewukamak, It means they will have alot of children.3)Hyperbole such as : Ina niang tana nawa, apa lero wilang reta .Itmeans they magnify parents like sum and moon.4)Personification such as wolo blolopahouk, Horimetiganuladothat means battle nut refers to man and his family. Sirih refers to woman’s 5) Irony like megu oramitangmanis, juganglauriporapong, tukusesung‘ora wutung, abogarengora uneng . It means the couple that has dark color but they are very impressive , even difficult procedure but they will take it. 6) allusionsuch as detu sai ganuinan no tiong, deposai ama aungnangbelang, saiganuwunga. It means listen to parents advicewrapit as the treasure7) imagery such as : e’I nele’ a , regang ‘uilolokelang, sayang ‘ui, lolokelang, kelangbetanoranarang.It means the man find his girl as his wife destiny. Thus, it is important for Sikka people to keep their way to talk by showing off the beauty of their mother tongue.
