Abstract
In teaching, there are some learning media that are used. One of them is digital media. In this case, the researcher tries to use animaker on teaching reading which intent to know the students’ reading at SMPN 1 Biboki Utara. The formulation of the research problem is does animaker improve students' reading comprehension? Based on the research problems, The research purposes of this research is to know whether animaker improves students’ reading comprehension. In this research, the researcher used quantitative approach with pre-experimental design (one group pre-test and post-test). The population of this research was the entire second grade students of SMPN 1 Biboki Utara, while the sample was VIII D class that occupied by 21 students. The researcher used purposive sampling for taking sampling. The instrument of this research was test. The data analyzed by using T-test formula at SPSS 16.0 for windows. The result showed that the students’ mean score in reading before they are taught using Animaker was 52.38. While the students’ score after they are taught using animaker was 80.00. The data computation of t-test shows that P-value (Sig.) is 0.000, and it is smaller than 0.05 or 5% (0.000<0.05). In consequence, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected; it means that there is significant different achievement of students before and after being taught using animaker. Thus, it can be conclude that animaker is effective to improve in teach reading for Junior High School.
