Abstract

The problems asserted in this research were what role did the English teachers play in teaching and learning activities in English Class towards Junior High School student? And which roles were dominantly played as the teacher? This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research was taken from observing two teachers from Sumba Foundation. The writer observed and analyzed the roles that the teachers used and the role that the teacher dominant played. Then, the writer reported the result. The results showed that both of two teachers used ten roles in teaching and learning activities, but from the ten roles, the first teacher was dominant mostly played five roles, while the second teacher used four roles. The writer hopes this study can add more knowledge about the role of teacher.
