Abstract

The research questions in this study are 1). What are the types of affixes found in the Anakalang Dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency? 2) What are the functions and meanings of the types of affixes found in the Anakalang Dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency? This study aims to determine the types of affixation, functions, and meanings found in the Anakalang dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Data sources were taken using observation techniques through recordings from native speakers of the Anakalang language in the process of proposing or transferring a girl. Based on the results of the analysis it was found that there are two types of affixes, functions, and meanings of Anakalang dialect namely: prefixes and suffixes. The prefix consists of six types: ha-, ka-, ma-, na-, pa-, and ta-. In comparison, the suffix consists of three types, namely -da, -na, and -ngu. The function of affixes in the Anakalang dialect, is to change word classes into other word classes and then form affixes according to the inherent basic form. The meaning of affixes in the Anakalang dialect is to have different meanings according to the inherent basic form. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that there are only two types of affixes in the Anakalang dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency, namely prefixes and suffixes, and have functions and meanings that change word classes into other word classes.
