Abstract
A sign (according to the structuralist view) is then defined as being such a pair (signifier, signified), This theory was put forward by Ferdinand De Saussure (1857-1913). This study aims tofind out the symbol and meaning of the Tebe LikuraiDance,The Formation of Tebe Likurai, and the function of the Tebe Likurai Dance. The research methods used is qualitative. Data was collected through interviews. The results of the study show that Tebe Likurai has two meanings, namely Haliku and Rai. Haliku means supervise, guard, protect, maintain, take, and master.Rai Means Land, Earth, Country, or Island.There are 3 types of dance movements namely,First, Weseywehali (Winding like a zig-zag). Second, tebe re (The thunderous jolt from right to left.) Third, be tae be tae tobalutuhun (bow your head at the timedance.) and The form and meaning of TebeLikurai Dance namely. Circle, Semicircle, Triangle, Straight Line, Parallel lines, and V-shaped. The Function of Tebe Likurai, Entertaining, Matchmaking, Unity, Art Value, and Glorifying God. This research is expected to be a reference for future research.
