Abstract
This study employed the Genre-Based Approach method, implemented at eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 20 Kupang. The research aimed to enhance students' ability to write descriptive texts in English. This method was proven to bring significant improvements to students' writing skills.The study utilized a classroom action research, involving one class with a sample size of 28 students. The Genre-Based Approach was applied through three training sessions over two weeks, focusing on teaching students to write descriptive texts in English accurately and effectively.Data collection was conducted through the assessment of pre-test and post-test results. The total pre-test score was 1,380, while the total post-test score was 2,550. The findings indicated that the implementation of the Genre-Based Approach significantly improved students' ability to write descriptive texts in English.
