Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the significant effect of Using Point, Illustration, Explanation Strategy (PIE) on the students’ ability in writing descriptivetext This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Amabi Oefeto. The population of thisresearch was 40 students of the academic year 2021/2023. The sample consisted of 20 students were taken by. The sample was divided into 1 class, taught by usingPoint, Illustration, Explanation Strategy (PIE). Each group was given a pre-test, treatment and post-test. The result of this research showed that t observe (8.77) washigher than t table (2.02) and degree of freedom (df) was 40. The final hypothesis showed that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It means that there was asignificant effect of using Point, Illustration, Explanation Strategy (PIE) on the students’ ability in writing descriptive text.
