Abstract

This thesis is entitled Analysis of Student Reading Skills Using "English for Elementary Schools" Books to Improve Student Literacy in Five Grade SD Gmit Oesapa. The problem with this study is whether students can improve their reading skills using the book "English for Elementary School." The study aims to describe the book as an effective medium to improve English reading skills and to gather information related to the use of English for elementary students in the teaching and learning process. This research is a type of class action research, with the learning model applied to reading skills using English in elementary school. where the variable measured is the student's learning outcome. The data collection technique in this study uses tests and documentation. Data analysis was perfomed by qualitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the application of the learning model English in elementary school proved to improve the learning outcomes of Five grade students. Improve the literacy of students. This can be seen in the pre-test, where there were 8 students (0.4%) who scored 75 up with an average score of 72,55%. In the test of the first cycle, there were 18 students (90%) who obtained a score of 75 up with a mean score of 85,55%.
