Abstract

The main objective of this study was to find out the improvment of student’s ability in reading comprehension using example non example model. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 6 Sabu Barat, with the population was eight grade students and the sample was class VIII A and VIII C. The number of 53 students. The method ude in this study was a quantitative method and the design was a quasi-experimental design. The instrumen was obtained using reading comperhension test. Data collection techniques are found by calculating the avarage score on the pre-test and post-test in experimental group and control group. The result of this study was indicated that there was a significant difference between experimental group and control group with the main score in experimental group was 20,25 and the mean score of control group was 13,25, based on the score of t-ratio obtained was 23,33 and the degree of freedom was 38 which was higher than 2.02439 of the t-table at the 5% level or P > 0,05 (5%) 0f significance. In this case, null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, and the alternative hyphothesis (H1) was acceternative teaching strategy, in improving students’ reading comprehension in procedpted. Therefore, by using example non example model in teaching can be used as an alure text.
