Abstract
The author's title is "Descriptive Study of Teacher Strategies in Getting Students' Attention in Grade 7 Classes of SMP Negeri 10 Kupang". The purpose of this study was to find out the English teacher's strategy in attracting students' attention in learning English at SMP Negeri 10 Kupang. The method used in this research is qualitative method. research data taken from SMP N 10 Kupang. The researcher directly made observations, identified and classified them, then analyzed the results based on the teacher's strategy theory. As a result, the author found several things related to the teacher's strategy during the learning process. The results of this study indicate that the English teacher's strategy at SMP Negeri 10 Kupang received five teacher strategies, namely hissing strategy, listening strategy, stopping strategy and clapping strategy. The suggestion from this research is that English teachers should be able to choose what strategies relate to students' abilities, the need to attract students' attention.
