Abstract
The title of things writing is An Analysis Of Politeness Strategies In “War Room Movie” Transcript. The research problem is going to be answered by conducting the research :What are the kinds of politeness strategies in war roommovie? The aims of the study is 1).to find out kind of politeness strategies in war room movie.Brown & Levinson (1987) states the politeness is a relationship between two participants whom we may call self and others. They also states about five politeness in politeness strategy. The kind of research used is descriptive qualitative method. In obtaining the data the writer used documentary as the instrument. The research take the data in documentary.All data gained is analyzed using descriptive qualitative method in which the data is described using sentence without using formula.Based on the data analysis, the research found five strategy such as: (1) Bald on Record, (2) Positive Politeness, (3) Negative Politeness,(4)Off Record and (5) Don’t do the Face Threatening Acts (FTAs)and the characters in war room movie is Politeness strategies can also be seen from Using polite language: The characters in the movie often use polite phrases when speaking with others. Avoiding insulting or violent language: The characters also avoid using language that contains violent or insulting elements towards other people. Active listening: The main characters in this film demonstrate active listening attitudes by patiently hearing out each other's problems without interrupting or judging them. Empathy and understanding: In conflict situations between the two main characters Tony and Elizabeth Jordan.All these politeness strategies aim at making communication between every character more effective and run smoothly throughout the movie War Room. Based on result of this study, the writer would suggest that those who are interested in politeness study may use the result of this study as resource of information and investigate the concerned matters further for rich information about politeness strategy in the dialogues in the war room movie.
