Abstract
This quantitative correlational study investigated the level of English language anxiety and speaking performance among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students and examined the relationship between these variables. The participants were 15 English Education students at Artha Wacana Christian University, Kupang. Data were collected using the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) and an oral presentation assessment rubric that evaluated pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The findings showed that all participants experienced a moderate level of English language anxiety, with scores ranging from 24 to 36. Despite experiencing moderate anxiety, the students achieved an average speaking performance score of 80.56, which was categorized as good. This indicates that the participants were generally able to perform well in speaking activities.Pearson Product-Moment Correlation analysis revealed a very weak and statistically non-significant positive relationship between English language anxiety and speaking performance. These results suggest that anxiety did not significantly affect students' speaking achievement. Instead, other factors, such as language proficiency, confidence, motivation, and speaking practice, may have contributed more to their speaking performance.
