Abstract
This research is entitled ‘A Descriptive Study on The Traditional Ceremony Process of Ngoa Ngi’i in Sawu Village, Nagekeo Regency’. The research questions are (1) why do the community carry out a Ngoa Ngi’i ceremony in Sawu Village and (2) How is the process of the Ngoa Ngi’i ceremony in Sawu village. It is aimed to find out the background or the reasons of why the people of Sawu village hold the Ngoa Ngi’i ceremony. Complete information regarding the required data is obtained from Mosalaki, using the closed interview method. The data collected is qualitative, technical writing using descriptive analysis. The result of the research, show the reasons of the Ngoa Ngi’i ceremony are (1) because ngoa ngi’i ceremony is a tradition (2) there are no obstacles during childbirth (3) if do not carry out the ceremony it will be get customary sanctions by Mosalaki. The process of Ngoa Ngi’i ceremony consists of the place of implementation, time, the people involved, and the tools used in the cutting tooth ceremony. (1) The place of Ngoa Ngi’i ceremony is conduct at home that has been agreed upon by the family, (2) the time of this ceremony conduct when the age of mothers seven months pregnant, (3) the people who involved in this traditional ceremony consist of Mosalaki ‘customary elder’, Ata Mali ‘people who conduct the Ngoa Ngi’i’, Pregnant, Family, and local community, (4) the tools that used in the ceremony consist of tora ‘pumpkins’, dhali whetstone’,wunu ila ‘bamboo leave’, wea ‘gold’, awu lapu ‘kitchen ash’, watu co’o ‘small stone’, yolo waja ‘corn’, moke ‘traditional drink’, and the last is manu lalu toyo ‘red chicken.
