Abstract
This study aimed at investigating the differences and similarities of sentences pattern in Rote language and English declarative sentences, and the approach of this study used namely descriptive qualitative, where the contrastive analysis was chosen as the method of the study in comparing and analyzing sentence patterns of both languages. This research data was taken from the Bible of both languages. Based on the research result, the researcher found some differences and similarities of 10 declarative sentences from the Bible. In Rote language there is no verb such as have or has that use alongside main verbs to form different tenses. Such as, S + has followed by main verb died. Instead, in Rote they have their own patterns to make the sentence, for example, S + V + ena. Where the word ena similar to word already in English, In Rote there is no verb like will, therefore in Rote they used word Neu ko before Subject to form the tenses. Meanwhile, both languages have similar elements to construct a sentence such as, S + V + O + PP, and S + V + S predicative. (Subject and predicate, and the rest of elements required as the complementation). Hopefully, these findings will help individuals whose mother tongue is Rote language to learn English more effectively.
