Abstract
This thesis is entitled "Analysis of Metaphorical Expressions in the Lamaholot Language in Liwo Village, East Solor District, East Flores Regency." This paper focuses on the conceptualization of space produced by the metaphor of body parts in the Lamaholot language. The aims of this research is to obtain the types, meanings and functions of metaphors used in the speech of the people in Liwo Village, East Solor. East Flores Regency This research uses in-depth interview techniques in the form of semi-structured interviews and focus groups and recordings. The data used as research material in this study are metaphorical expressions in the Lamaholot language, guided by the metaphor theory of Lakoff and Johnson (1980). Based on the analysis, it was found that there were types of classification of conceptual metaphors according to Lakkof and Johnson, namely seven structural metaphors, six orientational metaphors, and six ontological metaphors as well as the meaning and function used in the Lamaholot language. Development of knowledge about the meaning, function, and types of metaphorical expressions and implications. contribution of research findings to efforts to support metaphor theory.
