Abstract
The writer formulated two research questions namely: (1) What are the types of strategies applied by lecturers’ in teaching extensive reading amid the Covid-19 pandemic at English Study Program of ArthaWacana Christian University in academic year 2019/2020? and (2) What arethe lecturers’ Perspective in teaching extensive reading amid the Covid-19 pandemic at English Study Program of ArthaWacana Christian University in academic year 2019/2020. The aims of this research were to find out the types of strategies applied by lecturers’ in teaching extensive reading amid the Covid-19 pandemic at English Study Program of ArthaWacana Christian University in academic year 2019/2020. The data was taken from interviewed using techniques in-depth interview with the lecturers who teach extensive reading in the amid of Covid-19 Pandemic, then the writer transcribed and analyzed the data by using descriptive qualitative method in conducting this research. The result proves that the writer found the seven strategies which has beenapplied in teaching extensive reading first choose easy material, second students are free to choose what they want to read, third provide a lot of reading material, fourth reading individual and silent, fifthly lecturers adaptations and guide students, sixth lecturers as a role model and the last one is choosing online media as strategy in teaching extensive reading.Furthermore, to find out the lecturer's perspective, the authors distributed questionnaires and received the following responses; firstly, students have difficulty learning online, secondly students have difficulty understanding explanations from lecturers when teaching using the zoom application due to time constraints, thirdly they feel burdened by many tasks but with the last deadline given, students feel online learning is not fun for several reasons such as; it is difficult to interact with fellow friends, sometimes lecturers give assignments without explaining the material and difficulties due to limited internet quota.
