Abstract

This study under a title “A syntactic Analysis on Noun Phrases in Mauta Dailect” The problem is“ What are the types of noun phrase in Mauta Dialect? What are noun phrase rules that found in Mauta Dialect? The Aims are to identify the types of noun phrase in Mauta Dialect and to identify noun phrase rules in Mauta Dialect. The Instruments is using interview, which taken from the people in Kaka Mauta villages. The writer takes one by one the Kaka Mauta native speaker from the village. Which the writer previously involved ten speakers of Mauta Dialect, writer a phone to make an audio voice record of each speaker. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The analysis has been done to find out the types of noun phrases in Mauta dialect, namely; noun modified by noun, noun modified by adjective, and noun modified by preposition. the result of the data shows Mauta dialect has rules of NPs, Namely: (1)NP N, (2)NP Pro, (3)NP Det+N,(4)NP N+Det, (5) NP N+Adj, (6) NP N+N, (7)NP N+Conj+N,(8)NP N+PP, (9)NP N+Adj+Det,(10) NP Det+Poss+N. Mauta dialect has syntactic noun phrase to make sententes. For example; Haname Mauta and Petrus tame Alor. The sentence has rules N N+N(haname Mauta), NP N+ PP (petrus tame Alor).Based on the results, it is assumed that the speakers on Mauta dialect Might face difficulties in learning English as foreign language because they speak their language since they were born in Mauta dialect community and they use Mauta dialect as their first.
