Abstract

This research presents “A descriptive study on conjunction found on students ‘thesis background’ at Artha Wacana Christian Univesity in academic year 2018/2019” The aim of this research is to find out conjunctions and the types of conjunctions on students’ thesis background at Artha Wacana Christian University in academic year 2018/2019. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The result shows that 1) the conjunction used are : and, or, although, even though, as, that, which, when, after, thus, so, therefore, besides, furthermore, who, what, therefore, due, where, because, however, but, who, which, if, how, what, such as, before, that is why, so that, besides, before, moreover, whether, hence.2) The types of conjunction are non basic conjunction, subordinate conjunction, subordinate that express consequence in time, subordinate that express result consequence, subordinate that express cause/reason, subordinate that express circumstances, subordinate that express consesion, subordinate advertise conjunction, subordinate additive conjunction. Thus, the students needs to learn conjunction and the types of conjunction so they can use the correct conjunction to make their writing become coherence.
