Abstract

This study aimed to find out: (1) the kinds of Punishment used by the Teachers at the SMP N 10 Kota Kupang (2) the kinds of reward used by the Teachers at the Smp N 10 Kota Kupang. This study used Descriptive Qualitative Research Design. The instrument which was used to collect the data was indepth interview. The data was collected from all of the English Teacher at Smp N 10 Kota Kupang. The result of the interview showed that there were three kinds of punishment that were used by the Teacher in the classroom, namely physical punishment, word and sentence, inconvenient punishment Meanwhile, reward used by Teacher were praise, privileges,gift and sign of appreciation. The results of the interview show that the reward and punishment from teachers bring the positive impact through the students in learning English. more over, it also can increase their motivation and interest in learning.
