Abstract

This study is about teacher strategies applied by the English teacher in teaching english during covid 19. The writer conducted this study under the title “An analysis on the English teacher strategies in teaching english during covid 19.To find out the teaching strategies applying by the teacher in teaching English during covid 19 and the reasons of applying the strategies in teaching English during covid 19 There was one English teacher of SMP Swasta Swadaya Tarus involved in this study. To attain the aims of this study, the data were collected through direct interview supported by questions. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive. The findings revealed that the teacher’s have five strategies in teaching English during covid 19. Teaching Strategies are: Direct instruction teaching strategy, indirect instruction teaching strategy, interactive teaching strategy, experiential/ empirical teaching strategy, Independent teaching strategy. from the five strategies, there are three strategies that applied and two strategies not applied by the english teacher in teaching English during covid 19. Strategy that applied include: Direct Instruction teaching strategy, interactive teaching strategy, and experiential/ empirical teaching strategy. strategy that not applied include: Indirect Instruction teaching strategy, independent teaching strategy. and there are three reasons applied the strategies by the English teacher in teaching english during covid 19.
