Abstract
Coram Deo in the Governance of GMIT Ministry: A Theological and Management Study on the Influence of Work Spirituality and Organizational Commitment on Execution Discipline in the Implementation of the Second Strengthening Phase of HKUP. Thesis. Graduate Program, Faculty of Theology, Artha Wacana Christian University, Kupang. This study examines the influence of work spirituality and organizational commitment on execution discipline in the implementation of the Second Strengthening Phase of the General Policy Direction of GMIT Ministry, known as HKUP. The study is grounded in GMIT’s need to translate strategic ecclesial policies into measurable, documented, and accountable Annual Ministry Programs. In the context of the church, execution discipline is not merely a managerial issue, but also an expression of faithful ministry before God, or coram Deo. This research employed an explanatory quantitative approach. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires distributed to 120 respondents consisting of program implementers within the GMIT Synod, particularly members of BPP, UPP, BP2SBHN, BPAPE, and related task forces. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS. The findings show that work spirituality has a positive and significant effect on execution discipline, with a t-value of 7.198 and a significance level of 0.000. Organizational commitment shows a positive direction of influence but is not partially significant, with a t-value of 1.868 and a significance level of 0.064. Simultaneously, work spirituality and organizational commitment significantly influence execution discipline, as indicated by an F-value of 176.013 and a significance level of 0.000. The R Square value of 0.751 indicates that 75.1 percent of the variation in execution discipline can be explained by work spirituality and organizational commitment, while the remaining 24.9 percent is influenced by other factors outside the research model. The most dominant variable influencing execution discipline is work spirituality, with a standardized beta value of 0.702. These findings affirm that execution discipline in church governance cannot be built merely through technical instructions or institutional loyalty. It must be rooted in strong work spirituality. The concept of coram Deo provides a theological foundation for understanding administrative duties, indicator formulation, reporting, monitoring, evaluation, and verification as integral parts of ministry before God. Therefore, strengthening GMIT’s ministry governance requires an integration of spiritual formation, organizational commitment, and an operational system of accountability. The novelty of this study lies in bringing Coram Deo into dialogue with execution discipline as a managerial need in the implementation of HKUP. Therefore, the thesis does not merely assess organizational performance; it proposes a theological-management reading of ecclesial work as vocation, vision, hope for transformation, and altruistic love embodied in accountable ministry governance. Keywords: Coram Deo, work spirituality, organizational commitment, execution discipline, GMIT HKUP, ministry governance.
