Abstract

This research is entitled Using Mnemonic Technique to Improve Vocabulary Skill to Seventh Grade Students’ of SMP N 5 Fatuleu Satu Atap. The problem discussed in the research “ Is Mnemonic Technique Improving Vocabulary Skill of Sevent Grade Students at SMP N 5 Fatuleu Satu Atap?” This research is aiming to find out the improvement on students vocabulary skill using mnemonic technique. The data was collected using pre and post test to both control group and experimental group. Data analysis is using quantitative techniques. The results of this research showed that control group in pre test, students learning achievement in learning vocabulary reached mean score of 56 and in the post test students learning achievement in learning vocabulary reached mean score of 76. While, the pre-test in the experimental group achieved an average score of 59 and the post-test in experimental group after using mnemonic technique as medium of learning vocabulary reached 92,5 score. Based on research results, it shows that the application of mnemonic techniques in vocabulary learning has been proven to improve the learning outcomes of seventh grade students at SMPN 5 Fatuleu satu atap. This can be seen in the pre-test, there were 9 students(45%) who got a score of and above with an average score of 59%, in the post-test there were 20 students(100%) who got a score of 70 and above with an average score of 92.5%.
