Abstract

The main objective of this research is to determine the function of traditional ecological knowledge in the honey harvesting culture for the Uhak community, and the benefits of the honey harvesting culture for the Uhak Village community. The culture of collecting honey is one of the cultures of the Uhak village community when the entire Uhak village community collects honey together when the harvest season arrives. This culture is carried out twice a year. Before the process of cutting honey is carried out on a certain land, the entire community gathers on the shore of that part of the land and the traditional elders carry out a traditional procession by reciting sentences using the regional language and then spilling a drop of sopi on the land. sand or soil. The function of traditional ecological knowledge in the first honey harvest culture provides a deep function and meaning regarding the kinship and alliance system in society. Second, respect and respect other people's property rights, and finally, protect and preserve nature for the sake of human survival in the future. This culture of harvesting honey with all its processing has also provided benefits to the Uhak community from various sides; firstly as an economic need for the local community, secondly as a benefit of the cutting technique where people cut the bees by leaving a small number of beehives so that the bees can continue to reproduce and their sustainability is maintained in every forest. Third, as medicines to cure several diseases for the community and finally, social benefits, where these benefits are mutual respect between fellow citizens. In the process of searching and processing data, qualitative research methodology was used. This methodology was used because the research carried out was field research using interview observations and questionnaires.
