Abstract
The thesis titled "A Study on Lesson Plans Modified by English Teachers at Senior High Schools in Kupang City" investigated the following research questions: 1) To what extent do English teachers adhere to the guidelines provided by the Ministry of National Education when modifying lesson plans? 2) Which components ts of the lesson plans are commonly modified by teachers and 3)What are the underlying reasons for these modifications? The objectives of this study were to 1) Evaluate whether English teachers modify their lesson plans in accordance with the guidelines set by the Ministry of National Education. 2) Identify the specific aspects of the lesson plans that are frequently modified by teachers and 3)Explore the reasons behind these modifications. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach and collected data from English teachers serving as informants from four state Senior High Schools in Kupang City. The findings of the study revealed the following: 1) English teachers in Kupang City demonstrated a high level of competence in designing lesson plans. 2) When developing lesson plans, these teachers made modifications based on the guidelines provided by the Ministry of National Education. 3) The aspects most commonly modified by English teachers were the teaching materials, learning media, and learning methods.The rationale behind these modifications was to incorporate local cultural elements into the lessons, enabling students to better understand the topics by directly experiencing or relating to them.
