Abstract
The title of this Writing “Increasing Students’ Ability in Writing Recount Text Using Genre-based approach”. The research problem of the study Does genre-based approach increase students’ writing ability at SMP N 1 Kupang? The method used in this writing is quantitative method. The data of this research is taken from the treatment or experiment class and control class at SMP N 1 Kupang. The writer collected and analyzed increasing students’ ability in writing recount text using genre-based approach the presented the result. The result of analysis shows that increasing students’ ability in writing recount text using genre-based approach at SMP N 1 Kupang. This theory was supported by Nurkhamidah (2011), about students’ ability in writing recount text. The research explained that students’ writing ability was low, as there were many students’ who could not achieve the targeted lesson. This happened because students often feel bored in the classroom and students have less time to repeat the material at home. Teachers need be creative in developing teaching material and teaching technique to overcome these problems. She recommended the students to increase their ability by studying hard so they can understand the writing recount text. It can be seen based on t-test measurement which show that significant value of the test 0.000 0,05. It means that there was different value between Experiment class and control class. The writer hopes this study can add more knowledge about increasing students’ ability in writing recount text using genre-based approach method in teaching and learning.
