Abstract

There one of research problem namely what arethe types of maxim violation. The aim of this research wereto know the types of maxim violation. The data was taken from three videos using the note-taking and applied documentation as the data collection. Based on the analysis video, there are four types and sixteen utterances of maxim violation. The first is maxim violation of quality, for example, Police: do you bring SIM? ‘Polisi: apakahkamumembawa SIM’, Bosan: I forgot to bring it, it is all in my home…, Bosan: saya lupauntukmembawa SIM, semuaada di rumah…’.The second is maxim quantity, Bosan: where are you going to? ‘Bosan:kamumaupergikemana?’,Rara: why do you ask? I am going to manicure, if I am not going to manicure for a day my heart flutters…, ‘Rara: mengapabertanya? Sayamaupergiperawatan, jikasayatidakperawatan 1 hari, hatisayabergejolak’.The third is maxim relation, Ben: where is the bike? ‘Ben: dimana motor?’, ‘Bosan: sorry to say it before, do not be angry ‘Bosan: jangmarah sebelumnya…’.The fourth is maxim manner, Naris: I see, it is got ASF, Ben: what is it? ‘Naris: itusukena ASF’, Ben: itu apa. The conclusion is what can be taken is that subconsciously everyone has violated types of this maxim but can the listener or the speaker not hurt each and still have meaning.
