Abstract
Code mixing has become a common feature of contemporary Indonesian popular music, reflecting the creative use of bilingual language in song lyrics. However, previous studies have predominantly examined code mixing in individual songs, leaving a lack of comprehensive analysis at the EP level. This study aims to identify the types of code mixing found in Naykilla's EP Centyl, determine the most dominant type, and explain its sociolinguistic functions. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach by analyzing the lyrics of all six songs in EP Centyl as the primary data source. Data were collected through documentation of officially published lyrics and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, guided by Muysken's (2000) typology of insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. The findings reveal 22 instances of code mixing across the EP. Insertion is the most dominant type (12 instances, 54.5%), followed by alternation (9 instances, 40.9%), while congruent lexicalization occurs least frequently (1 instance, 4.5%). Functionally, code mixing primarily serves emotional personalization and emphasis, with Bahasa Indonesia remaining the matrix language throughout the EP. Overall, this study contributes to sociolinguistic research by providing a comprehensive EP-level analysis of code-mixing patterns in Indonesian popular music, extending previous studies that focused only on individual songs
