Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas identitas jemaat sebagai batu yang hidup melalui kajian historis-kritis terhadap 1 Petrus 2:1-10 dan Implikasinya bagi Jemaat Sion Camplong, Klasis Fatuleu. Kajian ini berangkat dari teks Alkitab untuk memahami makna teologis yang terkandung dalam perikop tersebut berdasarkan konteks historis, sastra, dan teologis Surat 1 Petrus. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tantangan kehidupan bergereja dalam membangun penghayatan identitas jemaat sebagai umat Allah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji konteks historis 1 Petrus 2:1-10, mengidentifikasi kerygma teologis yang terkandung di dalamnya, serta merumuskan Implikasinya bagi Jemaat Sion Camplong. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan historis-kritis yang dipadukan dengan studi kepustakaan dan penelitian lapangan melalui wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tiga pokok kerygma teologis dari 1 Petrus 2:1-10. Pertama, identitas jemaat dibangun di atas Kristus yang ditolak oleh manusia tetapi dipilih dan dimuliakan oleh Allah, sehingga nilai dan kehormatan jemaat ditentukan oleh Allah, bukan oleh penilaian dunia. Kedua, jemaat dipanggil menjadi komunitas yang terus dibangun oleh Allah sebagai rumah rohani, sehingga pertumbuhan rohani tidak bersifat individual, melainkan diwujudkan dalam kehidupan persekutuan yang saling membangun. Ketiga, gelar jemaat sebagai bangsa yang terpilih, imamat yang rajani, bangsa yang kudus, dan umat kepunyaan Allah merupakan dasar panggilan untuk memberitakan karya keselamatan Allah melalui kehidupan yang menjadi kesaksian di tengah masyarakat. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa identitas jemaat sebagai batu-batu hidup harus diwujudkan dalam kehidupan komunal yang berpusat pada Kristus, pertumbuhan rohani yang berkelanjutan, dan kesaksian yang nyata di tengah masyarakat. This study examines the identity of the congregation as living stones through a historical-critical analysis of 1 Peter 2:1-10 and its relevance to the Zion Camplong Congregation, Fatuleu Classis. This study draws on the biblical text to understand the theological meaning contained in this passage based on the historical, literary, and theological contexts of 1 Peter. The research is motivated by the challenges of church life in fostering the lived of the congregation’s identity as God’s people. The objectives of this study are to examine the historical context of 1 Peter 2:1-10, identify the theological kerygma contained therein, and formulate its relevance for the Sion Camplong Congregation. The method employed is qualitative research using a historical-critical approach combined with literature review and field research through interviews. The results of this study reveal three main theological themes in 1 Peter 2:1-10. First, the church’s identity is built upon Christ who was rejected by humanity but chosen and glorified by God so that the church’s value and honor are determined by God, not by the world’s standards. Second, the church is called to be a community that God continually builds as a spiritual home; thus, spiritual growth is not individual in nature but is realized in a life of fellowship that builds one another up. Third, the church’s titles as a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s own people form the basis of its calling to proclaim God’s work of salvation through a life that serves as a witness in the midst of society. This study concludes that the congregation’s identity as living stones must be realized in a Christ-centered communal life, continuous spiritual growth, and tangible witness in the midst of society.
