Abstract
The title of this paper is "An Analysis of verbal prefixes in the Miomaffo dialect Uab Meto" This study was conducted to answer two research problems, namely: 1. What are the verbal prefixes in Miomaffo dialect Uab Meto? What are the functions of the verbal prefixes found in the Miomaffo dialect Uab Meto? This study aims to determine and describe verbal prefixes and the function of verbal prefixes in the Miomaffo dialect. The data in this study were analyzed using qualitative research methods, namely interviews with informants. The data used in this study were taken from informants who are native speakers of the uab meto dialect. The analysis results show that the verbal prefixes of the Miomaffo dialect are formed from a combination of two bases, namely basic words and prefixes that have derived meanings in the addition of prefixes. In the Miomaffo dialect, there are seven subject prefixes (syllabic subject prefix and non-syllabic subject prefix), namely: syllabic subject prefix consisting of the word prefix ʔu-, for example ʔu- tolo '1sg-hide', subject prefix mu-, for example mu-iup '2sg-break',syllabic subject prefix ta-,ta-tusi 'px-massage', mi- for example mi-ah '1pl-eat', na- for example, na-nut '3sg-cut. non-syllabic subject prefixes consisting of ʔ-, for example au ʔ-iun '1sg-drink', m-feok '2sg-whistle', n-ah '3sg-eat', m-nao '1pl-walk', t-nen '1px-hear', m-kae '2pl-cry', n-ait '3pl-take.' and there are reciprocal prefixes ma- for example, ma-tuf 'hit each other' ma-nek 'kiss each other' and possessive prefixes ma- for example ma-lele 'have a garden', ma-ume 'have a house'. There are four functions in the Miomaffo dialect, namely firstly, as a subject marker in a sentence, for example: ole n-mouf 'little brother fell'. secondly, intransitive and transitive clauses, for example 'intransitive example: Ho mu- niu 'you take a bath', and transitive examples such as Ho mu-niu kau 'you bathe me'. Thirdly, reciprocal prefix ma- example: ma- baetsok 'divorce each other' and finally the possessive prefix ma- example: ma-loet 'have money’.
