Abstract
This study evaluates the pedagogical competencies of English teachers at SMPS Swadaya Tarus, focusing on lesson planning, teaching methods, subject mastery, and interpersonal skills. The research problem addressed is teachers' pedagogical competence applies in teaching English. The research aims to find out and analyze the pedagogical competencies applied by teachers in teaching English at SMPS Swadaya Tarus. Data collection methods include observation, and data analysis utilizes qualitative methods. Findings indicate that while teachers demonstrate sufficient ability in lesson planning and content delivery, improvements are needed in specifying learning objectives and aligning them with curriculum standards. Teaching methods, though diverse, lack structure in implementation and practical activities, potentially hindering student engagement. Despite strengths in classroom management and student interaction, challenges remain in utilizing technology for learning. Assessment practices are robust with varied methods, yet consistency in using results for student improvement needs enhancement. Overall, while teachers show strong pedagogical skills, further development in teaching methods and technology integration is crucial for optimizing student learning outcomes.
