Abstract
This research is entitled The use of kahoot game to improve students' vocabulary at SDI Lasiana. Vocabulary is one of the important skills in English, but some students have problems with their vocabulary. The writer used games in English teaching especially by using Kahoot game to improve their vocabulary. The purpose of this study is to find out whether Kahoot game can improve students' vocabulary. This study used a pre-experimental design. The population of this study was 116 students in all grades VI.A to VI.D at SDI Lasiana, where 26 students of class VI.D SDI Lasiana were purposively selected as the sample of this study. In collecting data, the writer used a pre-test and post-test to determine students' vocabulary skills. The results of data analysis showed that the average score of students in the pre-test was 56. After the treatment given by the writer, the students' average score in the post-test was 95 and the improvement was 69%. Data were analysed using the t-test. The t-test value (3.01) was greater than t-table value (2.787) the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. The results showed that there was an improvment in students' vocabulary. Teaching and learning with games can improve English vocabulary by using the Kahoot game. This is evidenced by the students' post-test scores which are higher than the pre-test scores from 56 to 95. Based on the research findings, it is concluded that using Kahoot game can improve the vocabulary of students in class VI.D at SDI Lasiana.
