Abstract

This research is entitled “An Analysis on Teachers' Strategy in Teaching English for Tourism at SMK Negeri 1 Kupang”. The formulation of the problem in this research is: what are the teachers' strategies in teaching English for tourism at SMK Negeri 1 Kupang? The purpose of this study is: to find out the teaching strategies used by English teachers majoring in tourism, SMK Negeri 1 Kupang. The research method used is a qualitative description. Data sources were taken using observation and interview techniques. Based on the results of the observation that the English teacher majoring in tourism, SMK Negeri 1 Kupang uses two types of teaching strategies, namely acceptance teaching strategies and discovery teaching strategies. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that Teaching acceptance is what the teacher plays an active role in presenting information to students, namely from general matters to more specific issues. After that, students are allowed to think about the application of the concepts learned. Discovery teaching is in which the teacher presents realities, cases, or problems to students. Then understand and solve it. Students find and express ideas, concepts, and ideas that can be brought into a broader study, especially in tourism.
