Abstract

This research is entitled ”An Analysis Translation Errors Of Indonesian Into English Made By The Fifth-Semester Students Of English Education At Artha Wacana Christian Univesity”. The problem of this study is what are the types of errors made by the students in translating text Indonesian into English? This study aims to find out and classify the types of errors made by the students in their translation text of Indonesian into English. The research applied a descriptive qualitative method. The data is taken from the Students’ of one translation task. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses the theory of the types of translation errors by Sager (1983). The research shows that there are four types of translation errors, namely inversion of meaning, addition of meaning, omission of meaning, and deviation of meaning. As the result of this research, the errors used in the translation errors of Indonesian into English made by the fifth-semester students is the deviation of meaning with 14 times occurrences, followed by the omission of meaning with 11 times occurrences, the addition of meaning with 8 times occurrences, and inversion of meaning with 3 times occurrences. Therefore, the researcher hopes that teachers and students should pay more attention to it and learn more about how to translate from source language to target language.
