Abstract
This research is to answer the research problems; 1) What are the synonyms found in AmanatunDialect? 2) What are the types of the synonyms found in AmanatunDialect? The method used in this writing is qualitative method. The data of this research was collected from the four native speaker in Amnatun. The writer hopes this study can add more knowledge to the readers about synonyms.The meanings of the synonyms of Amnatun dialect used in conversation are namely; the first types is contextual synonym, example;“moto” and “tunu” means ‘Burn’ but used in different context namely, The word “moto” isused for burn meat but the word “tunu” is used for saying to burn rubbish.(a) “mu’ek” and “tobe” means‘close’ but used in different context namely. The word “mu’ek” can be used for closing door but the word “tobe” can be used for closing rice on the table. (b)“lak” and “vin” means ‘pass’ but used idifferent context namely; The word “lak” can be used for passing river but the word vin can be used for passing fence. Then the second types is absolute synonym, example; “abakat” and “nabak” have different words but in Fatuleu language both of those words have the same meaning, it is namely ‘steal’ and can be used in the same contextual. (b)The synonym ‘nen’ and ‘mutnin’, if it se en based on the words, theyhavedifferent words but in Fatuleu language both of those words have the same meaning, it is namely ‘listen’ and categorized as absolute words because those words can be used in the same contextual. ‘Uab’ and ‘mumolok’ are the synonym in number thirdteen which have different words but in Fatuleu language both of those words have the same meaning, it is namely ‘talk’ and categorized as absolute words because those words can be used in the same contextual.
