Abstract
The current research under the title “An Analysis on Commisive Speech Act Used By Jokowi And Prabowo In Indonesian President Debates 2019” was conducted considered the formulated problems that associated with the types that found in three videos of Indonesian president debates 2019 videos. This research aimed to find the commisive speech act expressions and the types of commisive speech act used by Jokowi and Prabowo in Indonesian president debates 2019. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The writer use the documentation method to gather the data which being analyzed and the videos that used in this research is “Indonesian president debates 2019”. There were eight procedures that the writer took in order to obtain the objectives of this study. First, the writer watch the videos. Second, the writer record the video. Third, the writer make the transcription of the video. Four, the writer write down the list of commisive speech act. The fifth the writer will identify the expressions on commisive speech act. The sixth the writer classify the data based on the types of commisive speech act. The seventh the writer analyzed the types of commisive speech act and the eight which was the last step, the writer report the result.The findings of this research showed that all the types of commisive speech act had found in the Indonesian president debates 2019 videos among 75 data of commisive speech act in the video. Promise took the first place with 54 data, the second is guarantee with 7 data, the third place is refusal with 6 data, offer in the fourth place with 4 data, threats at the fifth place with 3 data, and the last is volunteer at the fifth place with 1 data. The discussion of this research presented the detailed explanation about the certain evidences that caused each of the expressions were categorized into each types of commisive speech act.
