Abstract
The title of this writing is “The Speech Style of JokoWidodo’s Speeches in “Sapa Indonesia Pagi Program” on Kompas TV”. This research conducted to answer questions: 1. What are JokoWidodo’s speech style used in his speeches in “Sapa Indonesia Pagi Program” on Kompas TV? 2. What are the function of speech delivered by JokoWidodo in “Sapa Indonesia Pagi Program” on Kompas TV? The data taken from 2 videos from Kompas TV youtube channel.The writer used documentary instrumneent to find out the types of speech style and the functions of speech. The result of the data analysis shows that JokoWidodo’s speeches in “Sapa Indonesia Pagi program” on Kompas TV used four types of speech style and three functions of speech. 1).Types of speech style: a). frozen style: ‘’Hari kelahiran Pancasila tahun ini kita laksanakan di tengah PandemiCovid-19 yang menguji daya juang kita sebagai bangsa, mengujipengorbanankita, mengujikedisiplinankita, mengujikepatuhankita, mengujiketenangan, dalam mengambil langkah kebijakan yang cepat dan tepat.’’ (Used complex and long sentence and used serious tone).b). formal style:‘’Mengembangkanbudaya anti korupsi dan menumbuhkan rasa malu menikmati hasil korupsi merupakan hulu yang penting dalam pencegahan tindak pidana korupsi.’’(Used well structured complex sentence and noun phrases, logically sequenced and strongly coherent, and didn’t use slang terminologies.)2).The functions of speech: a). informative speech, b). persuasive speech, c). recreational speech.
