Abstract
The objectives of this research is to find out the use of short story strategy to increase the eleventh grade student vocabulary mastery students’ of SMK Negeri 3 Wewewa Barat in academic year 2021. This research was an experimental research using quantitative methods. There were two kinds of testused, those were pre- test and post- test, of 20 students. The data were processed using T-test formula by comparing mean score of pre- test and post- test. The significant level was 5%. The result of the research showed that, first, the students’ vocabulary mastery was different before and after teaching using short story strategy. The mean of pre- test was 49,5 while the mean of post- test was 95,5 The diffrences between pre-test and post-test mean was 46. Second, the result showed that t- test ( to) 4,56 was higher than t- table (tt) 2,10 with the degree of freedom (df) 18. Therefore, it shows significance result after using short story in increasingstudents voacabulary mastery. It isa proof that using short story strategy is effective and can be used to improve students’ vocabulary mastery at SMK N 3 Wewewa Barat in academic year 2021/2022
